Exotic surprises down at the local |
“If you go down to The Bulls Head today you’re in
for a big surprise. |
The Cosby restaurant has something a little more
exotic on offer than your average pub - a fantastic Chinese menu. |
About 14 Months ago, Winley’s Chinese Restaurant
and Take-Away took over the pub’s restaurant, serving first-class Chinese
food in a traditional relaxed setting. |
The restaurant area itself is cosy and comfortable, while the staff are friendly and unobtrusive. |
Winley’s boasts one of the most extensive menus
I’ve ever seen and, with more than 130 items on the menu, there should
be something to suit every taste. Pork, beef, steak, chicken, duck,
sea food and vegetarian dishes feature in abundance, along with English
meals and starters. |
There are also buffet options and set meals, making
choosing what to have quite an undertaking. |
We received complementary prawn crackers while scouring
the menu, eventually settling for a variety meal of meat and vegetarian
options, including fried mixed vegetables with cashew nuts and hot and
spicy Koon Po chicken. |
The food itself was delicious and beautifully presented,
with little details like carrots sculpted into flowers making the dishes
look almost to good to eat. |
And there was lots of it. The portions were generous
to say the least, and as everything was served in a separate dish, it
was perfect for sharing. |
Chopsticks were provided, but the less brave dinners
can stick to a fork if they prefer. |
Luckily, the desserts come with a spoon and I had
no trouble polishing off pineapple fritters, which were divine. |
And the icing on the cake for the evening – the
price. The bill was very reasonable – a party of four could easily have
the full works for less than £50. AB” |
